Following last months epic journey to (and around) Poland, I've bitten the bullet and arranged a follow up with some pretty specific aims.
Partly this is in response to my Residency Application, and partly due to the conversations I had with Weronika at Sobibor. I feel deeply that I want to take my photography up a level, and visiting new sites related to the holocaust seems like the ideal way to do that.
But it is now so much more than photography.
After spending time exploring adding audio to my articles, the notion of creating some purely audio experiences has come to the front of my mind.
This means that throughout my next trip I will be attempting to capture ambient sound effects and narrations for inclusion into a series of audio-first interpretations.
I'm really excited about branching out with my creativity. Not only that but moving it into a genre I am unfamiliar with.
Watch this space, I guess, and check the Field Notes section on this site to see how things are going for better or for worse!
Briefly, my trip is looking like this:
- Week one will be in Krasnystaw, from where I can visit Przemysł, Lublin, Izbica and Jósefów.
- Week two will be in Adampol, just north of Włodawa from where I can really get to grips with Sobibór.
- Finally week three will be in Warsaw, where I can continue my work in Siekierki. Plus, I have my first residency interview in Warsaw that week.
Eek. Exciting times.
